Besharam – [shame-LESS] – Shame The Final Frontier
2023 saw the world premiere of Sid Akbar’s autobiographical show, “Besharam [shame-LESS].” With commissioning support from Bradford Producing Hub’s “Make Work” funding, and support from City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Small Arts Grant and Arts Council England. This brand new piece will tell the true, Bradfordian story of Sid’s cathartic journey: breaking out of the limitations of family, religion and culture to survive, heal, accept and own his own truth, defined only by himself.
